Why I Love Pumpkin Seed Butter

I wanted to write a review about the Pumpkin Seed Butter I have been using because I really enjoy it. It is made by Jarrow Formulas and is all natural & cold processed so it is still considered raw.

This is a great way to get raw seeds into my diet without doing any of the work in grinding them up myself. The butter is green, which is what it should be when the pumpkin seeds are raw. Cooked seeds would not give nearly as much benefit as the raw ones do.

After buying it, make sure to stir it up well because the oil tends to seperate from the seeds.

Health Benefits of Pumpkin Seeds

- Awesome source of Omega-6 Essential Fatty Acids and Omega-9 Fatty Acids.

- Great for men in promoting prostate health

- It is rich in Zinc which is great protection for your bones

- Pumpkin seeds are a naturally Anti-Inflammatory which is wonderful for conditions such as Arthritis

- They are very high in minerals, protein and mono-unsaturated fats

- Lowers Cholesterol through Phytosterols

- Higher in protein than any other seed

- Native Americans used to use Pumpkin Seeds or the treatment of intestinal infections. The United States Pharmacopoeia had also listed pumpkin seeds as an official medicine used to get rid of parasites from the body.

Nutrients found in Pumpkin Seeds

One quarter cup of pumpkin seeds will provide your body with:
Manganese - 52% of daily value
Magnesium - 46% of daily value
Iron - 29% of daily value
Copper - 24% of daily value
Protein - 17% of daily value
Zinc - 17% of daily value

Pumpkin seeds are a safer source of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) than fish oil due to the toxicity and mercury content now found in fish. It helps the body to feel full and reduces cravings for bad fats from meats and junk foods.

Eating seeds is a very important element in a vegetarian, vegan, raw food or even fruitarian diet. They help to maintain proper balance of nutrients to assure that you are not lacking in protein or iron which so many people are concerned about with these types of diets.

I use my pumpkin seed butter smoothies as my own personal "comfort food" and it works very well in this regard. I highly recommend everyone try it out for themselves.
